My most interesting buy of the week was a box of about 100 patterns from the 1950s to 1990s for $1. The charity shop wanted the box gone as it was taking up too much space and had sat in the shop for weeks.
After I Googled “vintage sewing patterns” I was surprised to discovered there is a market for old patterns and even websites dedicated to them. A woman in the US sells vintage
patterns online and it seems people are willing to pay good money for some of the older, more stylish patterns. There is a turn over of vintage patterns on TradeMe with a 1950s pattern for an apron selling for more than $30. Check Grandma’s sewing draws NOW there could be good money to be made.
