There are three op shops in Townsville’s Flinders Street.
My favourite was the Lifeline shop. It is jam-packed with good-quality dresses – even wedding dresses. Many of the garments still have original price tags attached. The shop has kindly colour co-ordinated the dresses which helps with selection. Most dresses were about $10 to $15 so that’s value for money. The store also had quality secondhand shoes.
The Lifeline and Salvos stores both had a wide range of secondhand books. Strangely for a large city, Townsville doesn’t seem to have a dedicated book shop. It has newsagents selling newspapers and a wide range of magazines. So if you want to buy books head to the op shops.
